However our reception opening hours are:
Monday to Sunday (including public holidays) – 8am to 7pm
🚫 Please note that the visitor policy at Kensington is different. Due to fire regulations, overnight visitors are not permitted
House Rules
Zero Drug Tolerance & Smoke-Free Policy
No illegal substances are permitted anywhere in the building, including for visitors. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the building, including all terraces and outdoor communal areas.
Alcohol Guidelines
We encourage responsible drinking. Drinking games are not allowed. Please follow the University of Sydney Alcohol Policy for safe and respectful conduct.
Reporting Incidents
If you experience or witness theft, harassment, assault, or any safety concern, report it immediately to the Duty Manager or ResLife management.
Reporting Complaints
Locked out? Hearing excessive noise? Feeling unsafe? Call the 24-hour duty phone
Fire Safety
Do not prop your door open. These are fire doors, and tampering with them is a serious safety hazard and a breach of your residential agreement. Violations may result in disciplinary action.
Respectful Behaviour
Aggressive behaviour, fighting, harassment, or bullying will not be tolerated at any time.
No Subletting
Residents are responsible for their contract and for ensuring their guests comply with Regiment rules.
Cleanliness
Please clean up after yourself in the kitchen, bathrooms, and all common areas. Residents are responsible for keeping their bedrooms clean. Vacuums can be borrowed from Reception.
Bike Storage
Use a U-lock to secure your bike in the designated bike storage room.
Access Control
Keep your access card secure and never share it with anyone.
Personal Belongings
Do not leave valuables in common areas. Report any theft immediately to Reception.
Freezer/Fridge Use
To use communal fridges or freezers, please visit Reception to reserve a space.


Visitors, Lockouts & Time Away
Visitors & Gatherings/Visitor Registration

All visitors must be registered using the QR code at Reception — this applies to both day and night visitors.

Visitors must always be accompanied by you. They cannot enter the building alone.
Overnight Visitors

You may have one overnight visitor for up to two nights within any seven-day period.

All overnight visitors must be registered via your Student Accommodation Portal at least 48 hours in advance.

Kensington has a different visitor policy due to fire regulations and does not permit overnight visitors
Gatherings / Events
-
For any gatherings (birthdays, study sessions, celebrations, etc.), please complete an Events Application Form at Reception.
Responsibility & Misconduct

Any breach of drug, alcohol, or smoking rules may result in fines and serious misconduct action with Regiment, the University, and Police.

You are responsible for the behaviour and conduct of your visitors at all times.
Lockouts
If you become locked out of your room:

Contact the Duty Manager on shift at +61 448 093 906 for assistance.

A $10 lockout fee applies.

Join our Key Buddy System to help avoid lockout fees!

Lost keys incur a $25 replacement fee.
Going Away
If you will be away from your accommodation for more than 2 nights, please notify us. You can do this in two ways:

Safety
What To Do in an Emergency
If You Hear the WARNING Alarm

Stay calm.
-
Remain where you are and wait for further instructions.
If You Hear the EVACUATION Alarm

Stay calm.
-
Follow the evacuation signs and the instructions from staff or wardens.
If You Are Told to Evacuate
-
Leave the building immediately using the Fire Stairs/Exits.

Do NOT use the lift during an evacuation.
-
Proceed directly to the Emergency Evacuation Point.
Fire Safety & In-Room Restrictions

For your safety — and the safety of everyone in the building — kettles, toasters, candles, personal cooking equipment, or any other heat-producing appliances are not permitted in your room.
All cooking must be done in the designated kitchen areas.

False Alarms & Evacuations: Causing a false evacuation puts all residents at risk.You may also be held responsible for the fire department call-out fee, which is currently $1600 AUD per fire truck.

Emergency Alarms

Emergency alarms are located at each stairwell.

Activate an alarm only when you identify a real emergency.
Fire Doors & Stairs

Fire doors automatically close when the alarm is triggered.
-
Doors remain unlocked so you can open them to evacuate safely.
-
Never prop open fire doors — this is a serious safety risk.
Fire Wardens
-
Follow the instructions of the Fire Wardens at all times.

They will be wearing identifiable vests.
